A Long way Gone Summary
A Long Way Gone is a true story of Ishmael Beah, who becomes a boy solider during the civil war in Sierra Leone. When he is twelve years old, his village is attacked while he is away with his friends preforming in a rap group. With the confusion, violence and war, Ishmael, his brother and his friends wander from village to village searching for food and protection. They all find themselves doing things they thought they were capable of, such as learning to kill people for protection. I like this book because it teaches us life lessons. It teaches us to cherish what we already have because we never know what will happen when we’re gone. That we should be grateful that there are no wars where we live and that every moment is precious.
