Summary of Antigone
Antigone is about a young woman that learns that both of her brothers are dead. Eteocles has been given a proper burial, but Creon, her uncle who is the ruler, is banning the burial of Polyneices. He believes was a traitor. She goes against the law, buries her brother which she thinks is the right thing to do, but gets caught and is sent to be buried alive. When Creon puts her in prison, she kills her-self believing what she did is right. Haemon, Creon’s son and Antigone’s fiancé pleads to his father to let her free and Creon finally accepts, but he soon finds her dead. Haemon then took his life wanting to be with her leaving his father alone and sad. I like that this teaching us lessons like not to be foolish. It teaches us that beilve in what's right or the gods (in their time) will punish us for our crimes.
